Facebook user data to appear in Russian search engine Yandex

January 15, 2014

Yandex, which is Russia’s top search engine, will soon start indexing the content shared by Facebook users marked with public profile. Last week, Yandex authorities signed a deal with Facebook, where the latter promised to share its user content with the former from this week.

As a part of this deal, all the user content appearing in public profiles of facebook users will be indexed by Yandex in its search engine results. Thus, by this move, Yandex users can find out what those on the social network are saying about a current news headline or posting on a specific keyword. After a couple of months, Yandex also plans to display the comments posted by facebook users on its search engine page.

Currently, the public content of facebook users in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Turkey will be displayed on Yandex.
