Cloud backup and data protection service provider Carbonite is planning to acquire Seagate’s Evault data back up service for $14 million in cash. The deal is expected to take place in early next year, so more details are awaited.
Evault was founded in 1997 by Seagate and was running as a data backup service provider.
Carbonite’s purchase of Evault, will offer it 200 plus employees and plenty of business in disaster recovery and business continuity. After the deal, Carbonite’s head count will increase to 800.
