Pivot3 which sells Hyper Converged infrastructure announced that it will acquire NexGen Storage-a provider of hybrid storage appliances. The finances involved in this deal have been kept under wraps
Colorado based NexGen has also endorsed this revelation and added that its 86 employees will become part of Pivot3 which already has a 130 in numbers work force.
Founded in 2002, Pivot3 develops software and hardware meant for server and storage virtualization. The company was started in Houston by a former Compaq Computers Corporation’s engineers and moved its headquarters to Austin almost five years ago. Pivot3 has been in growth mode over the past year. Last February, the company raised $45 million from investors to make a sales and marketing push.
After the deal, the companies will have 2,000 customers worldwide including seven federal agencies, Federal Express and Verizon.
More details of the deal will be revealed next month.
