The United States Federal Aviation Administration’s drone registration program has hit 400,000 mark early this week. The program which was launched by FAA in December 2015 witnessed slow registrations till the end of the said year. But as soon as the year 2016 arrived registrations picked up.
Based on the input from the drone industry the FAA estimated that there were 700,000 drones operating in United States in 2015. With the momentum of registrations going as per their expectations FAA Administrator Michael Huerta said at the South by Southwest conference in Austin, Texas, on Monday that their program was on the right path of success in all terms.
On Monday, the FAA also launched an Android version of its B4UFLY app, which provides pilots with a quick overview of local flight restrictions that govern drone flight.
