Panasonic unveils 50 years lasting optical drive data storage at Dubai World Trade Centre

Panasonic, a global technology leader has unveiled 50 years lasting optical drive based data storage archival solution at the Big Data Show held at Dubai World Trade Centre this week.

Panasonic LB-DH8 Series Optical Disc library system is a long term data archiving solution designed for sustainability and has the ability to meet the most complex data challenges.

Panasonic LB-DH8 series Optical Disc Library system combines sets of Data Archiver Magazines, with 12- Blu-Ray Disc media in each one. The company claims that it has more than 50 years of life which is safe and secure for large volumes of data at low running cost.

In the year 2014, Facebook announced that it is using Blu-Ray discs for cold data archival needs. From then on companies like Sony and Fujifilm are coming up with solutions based on these extinct optical drives.

Panasonic LB-DH8 Series Optical Disc library system is available in 91TB capacity and for a price of $64,000.
