StoneFly offers remote replication services exclusively to its customers for data protection!

StoneFly, Inc., a wholly owned business unit of DNF is offering remote replication services which are exclusive to its customers. All StoneFly iSCSI and FC SAN customers can avail the remote replication services to quickly add one or more disaster recovery sites for their critical data.

Remote replication is a process of copying production data to a device or platform at a remote location for data protection or disaster recovery purposes. To reap the maximum benefit from replication and snapshotting feature, data should be stored in more than one location, requiring a remote host to be highly available. But many small and medium businesses users have only one data center i.e. their in-house server room. This is where StoneFly Cloud Business Center (CBC) shows its prominence.

Customers just need to purchase the software of StoneFly CBC and need to install it on the server to achieve remote replication to StoneFly Cloud Business Center. This process quickly adds a virtual drive on CBC to create one or more disaster recovery sites for all user data. By replicating user data to StoneFly’s Cloud Business Center, consumers immediately save on the capital expenses that come with the purchase of a physical appliance, along with operating expenses such as power and cooling costs. With StoneFly’s Remote Replication service users can rest assured that their data is secure and protected against loss.

Now, to those who are concerned about the ownership of data, when it is on remote premises, here’s a fact.

Users will be the sole owners of the data stored on the virtual drive of StoneFly Cloud Business Center. The security keys offered will help keeps user data safe from snooping activities. Data replicated to the dedicated SCVM Virtual Storage Appliance in the StoneFly Cloud Business Center is managed and protected with all of these great features all at no extra charge.

The highlight of this whole process is hardware enabled block level AES 256 volume encryption. On using a powerful 256-bit encryption algorithm, AES Crypt can safely secure users most sensitive files. Once a file is encrypted, users do not have to worry about a person reading their sensitive information, as an encrypted file is completely useless without the password. It simply cannot be read.

StoneFly offers asynchronous replication of data to its Cloud Business Center. The replication carries out from one-to-one, one-to-many, many-to-one. To those, who need a knowledge brush-up, asynchronous replication is nothing but to write data to the primary storage array first and then, depending on the implementation approach, copying that data in real-time or at scheduled intervals to replication target—in this case to StoneFly CBC.

StoneFly CBC also offers real-time synchronous mirroring of iSCSI volumes to a secondary VSA. For space reclamation, thin provisioning feature is also added to the CBC replication software.

Graphical performance and utilization reporting is available for this software along with snapshot schedule utility.

For those, who are concerned about the reliability of StoneFly Cloud Business Center, here’s a fact. All SCVM virtual storage appliances are hosted on StoneFly’s world class USS and USS-HA Unified Server & Storage appliances. These appliances are hyper converged as well as high available and redundant devices which are fault tolerant.

High-performance features include dual hexa-core storage virtualization engines, hot-swappable disk drives, hardware RAID with cache battery backup for protection against disk failures, redundant hot-swappable power supply modules, and multiple iSCSI connections with port teaming, failover and load-balancing to maximize system up-time and allow you unfettered access to your replicated data.

Users can further minimized storage costs on CBC by opting for data deduplication feature available on demand. This feature offers increased storage efficiency and can fit 5x to 137x more data in the same storage footprint.

Users need to pay for the storage they are using to reap the benefits of cloud storage.
