Dell’s dream to acquire EMC for $67 billion is under progress as it still needs regulatory and shareholders approval. And at the EMC World held in Las Vegas on Monday this week; Michael Dell- CEO of Dell, Inc. announced that the company emerging after Dell EMC deal will be called as Dell Technologies.
Dell Technologies will be the only company selling everything from edge devices to core data centers and cloud infrastructure. Something similar to what HP is doing after splitting into two – Hewlett Packard Enterprise and HP Inc. The new company will include EMC’s core Information Infrastructure Storage Division, VMware, Pivotal, Virtustream, and two other security businesses named Dell’s SecureWorks and EMC’s RSA unit.
As far as Dell’s laptop business is concerned, the company will continue with the same name and logo.
EMC Chairman and CEO Joe Tucci received a standing ovation at the EMC’s annual conference for what is likely to be his last conference as a CEO.
Joe has been CEO of EMC since 2001, probably one of the longest tenures in the tech industry.
