Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is not taking data security on a serious note and this was revealed by Fox News in its latest news post. According to FoxNews, Hackers have targeted Zuckerber’s social media accounts on Sunday last week, briefly hijacking his LinkedIn, Twitter and Pinterest Accounts.
The cyber criminals who committed this crime described themselves as “OurMine Team” and changed the title of Zuckerberg’s Pinterest page to “Hacked by OurMine Team” and posted a message saying “Hey, we are just testing your security”. The hackers also succeeded in hacking Mark’s Twitter account which was not used since 2012.
A Facebook spokesperson, on Monday morning accepted the breach and said that the affected accounts have been re-secured using best practices.
The hackers also succeeded in hacking Zuckerberg’s Instagram accounts. Also they tried to hack his Facebook account, but security systems prevented the criminals from accessing the account.
The Facebook founder is the latest high profile figure to fall victim to hackers. Last month Katy Perry’s Twitter account was hacked and used by someone to send out a series of Offensive tweets.
In early hours of Monday, OurMine team who hacked Zuckerberg’s social media accounts revealed through their Twitter page that they got the password to Mark’s account from the 2012 LinkedIn data breach. The hackers also claimed that Zuckerberg used an incredibly weak password to secure his social networking accounts, other than his own Facebook.
On May 29th, 2016, a hacker was reportedly looking to sell a package containing account records of 167 million LinkedIn users on the darknet. The data was related to 2012 LinkedIn breach.
The hackers who hacked Mark’s account on Sunday is said to have taken the password hints from that leaked data.
Hope, Mark learnt a lesson with the brief tryst with the hackers!
