Acer issues data security alert to its 35,000 online shopping patrons

California based Acer Inc, has issued a data security alert to all its 35,000 online shopping customers through media sources. The ace computer maker has revealed to California’s Attorney General that hackers have broke into the company’s online store and grabbed sensitive customer data. The leaked data includes customer names, addresses, and credit card numbers including expiry date and three digit CVC security codes.

Acer has openly confessed that the hack affected a small segment i.e. 34,560 customer base in United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico- all who have done shopping between May 12, 2015 to April 28, 2016. The company also admitted that hackers got hold of the said data by hacking its servers via an unspecified security issue.

Acer will formally inform all its 35K (appx) customers about the hack and has requested all of them to keep a track of their credit card transactions in future.
