StoneFly strengthens its relationship with Microsoft

StoneFly, Inc., has expanded its relationship with Microsoft Corporation by offering an integrated system designed to provide customers a hybrid cloud offering. The offering brings together StoneFly Cloud Drive to deliver a Microsoft Azure consistent environment within an enterprise data center. The system is well suited for enterprise applications like SQL Server, Exchange, SharePoint, and Microsoft Dynamics, which require performance and availability. This extended StoneFly and Microsoft relationship opens up opportunities for customers of both companies to deploy mission-critical enterprise applications on validated infrastructure.

Previously, enterprises looking to deploy Microsoft based hybrid cloud solutions were required to bring together different pieces of Microsoft’s technology and complex data center infrastructure to build a solution on their own. But now, StoneFly is offering standardized infrastructure backed up with Microsoft Technologies as a path to the hybrid cloud, with features such as self-service deployment, backup and Disaster Recovery based on one-click management simplicity.

StoneFly and Microsoft share a visual modality to simplify, and remove the guesswork, from building and operating data center infrastructure for enterprises and StoneFly Cloud Drive on Microsoft Azure is one such innovation created from the said vision.

StoneFly Cloud Drives feature StoneFly’s proven enterprise-class SAN technology which has been integrated with Microsoft’s Azure cloud computing platform to offer Storage as a Service (SaaS), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), remote OS boot from the cloud, and the provisioning of data stores for physical or virtual environments (such as VMware or Hyper-V).

The Cloud Drive on Microsoft Azure is ideal to protect mission critical data and includes advanced business continuity features such as snapshots, asynchronous remote replication, multi-geo mirroring, data deduplication, volume encryption and thin provisioning.

To reap the maximum benefit from replication and snapshotting features, data should be stored in more than one location, requiring a remote host to be available. But many users have only one data center- the server room.

Hence, all StoneFly storage appliances can be integrated to StoneFly Cloud Drive which empowers organizations to fully utilize Microsoft Azure Cloud Computing platform to enable enterprises large and small to implement offsite backup inexpensively.

The amount of redundancy is up to each user, with choice of Azure’s Locally Redundant Storage(LRS) with 3 synchronous copies of user data within a single data center, Geographically Redundant Storage(GRS) with 3 synchronous copies of user data within one data center, and 3 asynchronous copies of user data at a second data center thousands of miles away, or with Read Access Geographically Redundant Storage(RA-GRS) with the same redundancy as GRS but with the added ability of read-access to the secondary data center when there is an outage at the primary data center.
