Amazon servers were hacked on Saturday causing data leak of 80000 kindle users. The hacker claimed that the hack was a result of declared war on the Baton Rouge Police Department after one of its officers shot and killed Alton Sterling.
On an initial note, the hacker targeted the police department servers and leaked thousands of record online. Then they targeted Amazon and hacked one of the databases of the retailer. The hacker demanded $700 in return of the data which contained sensitive info of more than 80K Kindle users.
When Amazon did not respond to the hacker he leaked the data online which contains users email, password, city, state, phone number, zip code, user agent, last login IP, Proxy IP and street.
Most of the data leaked online looks legitimate, but Amazon is yet to react to the claim.
The hacker named as Ox2 Taylor said that the hack was not only an act of retaliation against the recent shooting saga where cops shot an individual due to racism, but it was also to prompt Amazon to implement better security measures to avoid data security concerns of its users in future.
